The word is less useful than the task. Tie the accounts, or interpret them. Those are different jobs.
Reconcile the bank and the cards. Code what is obvious. That is the bookkeeping layer. Review the month, post the accruals the return will need, and tell the owner what moved. That is the controller layer. A forecast and a plan for the year are a further layer, and they are not implied by the word controller.
No company's private task split is printed. Yours can be written on the call from your own accounts.
The recommendation follows the tasks. A title is not assigned to flatter the month.
